London Textile Fair 2014

What a busy few weeks I’ve had! I feel like I haven’t stopped. Luckily I’m off this week, so I’m able to catch up on this and some paper work. However on that hot a sticky Thursday, I spent the afternoon at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

It’s the first time I’ve ever attended the London Textile Fair so I wasn’t sure what to expect. What a treat though!

IMG_2943So many different printers and distributers from all over the world. Whatever you were looking for, it was there! PVC, fur, wool and cottons. So many textures and weaves, such little time!

Amongst all the stalls, I found a vintage archive tucked away in the print section. They had the most beautiful 18th and 19th century swatch books full of hand painted print samples. Unfortunately, I was unable to take a photo due to copyright etc but I got a card and hopefully I’ll be able to visit them some time this year. It’s great to meet other archivists. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one!

IMG_2944To round off, it was a great outing. And from what I saw from the forecast boards, it’s going to be a bright and exciting SS15!

Much Love,
